Translation
The book “Horses” by Abu Ubaida Muammar bin Al-Muthanna deals with a detailed study of the importance of horses in Arab culture, covering aspects including the names of horses, the invocation of horses, their faults, and their aesthetic and moral descriptions. The book focuses on documenting the elements that distinguish the quality and character of the horse, noting the differences between male and female horses, and the different colors of horses. The author also points out the changes that occurred in Arabs’ dealings with horses from pre-Islamic times to Islam, showing how horses transformed from a symbol of power and pride in Arab societies into a tool of war in Islam.
