The Book of Chapters and Objectives, also known as Paragraphs and Periods, is one of the works of Abu Al-Ala’ Al-Ma’arri (who died in the year 449 AH/1058 AD), the author of the Treatise of Al-Sahil and Al-Shahj and the Epistle of Al-Ghufran. He wrote it, as Ibn Al-Adim says, after his return from Baghdad: “The first thing he wrote after his interruption in his home, after his return from Baghdad, was the book known as “The Chapters and Objectives in the Glorification of God Almighty.” And the Sermons” is the book for which he was slandered, and it was said that he contradicted the surahs and verses with it, as a transgression against him, injustice, and falsehood and sin.
