Translation
The book “Adab al-Kitab” or “Adab al-Kitab” by Ibn Qutaybah al-Dinawari deals with the topic of literature and rhetoric, showing the importance of literature and the increasing number of people regressing from it in his time. The author focuses on addressing multiple linguistic and literary issues, including the interpretation of words and definitions, the origins of people's names, plant types, and the defects and descriptions of horses. He also points out people's misunderstanding of literature and their disdain for it, considering that scholars have been submerged and the goods of people of literature have dried up. The book aims to clarify the value of literature and its sciences and to explain the skills and principles a writer must have in writing and expression.
