Translation

The literature of the book: Some people say: “The literature of the writer.” It was written by Al-Suly at the time of Al-Radi Billah, as can be understood from what he wrote in the chapter “What People Write About Today.” He said in the introduction: “We have written this book according to what is needed by the highest-ranking writers and the lowest-ranking among them. He made it comprehensive of everything the writer needed, so that he could rely on no one but him for all of it.
