التاج في أخلاق الملوك هو كتاب في الأدب والبلاغة للجاحظ يتحدث حول الدخول على الملوك، ومطاعمتهم، ومنادمتهم، وفي صفات الندماء وما يجب للملوك عند الرعية من حسن الأدب، في حالتي الهزل والجد، ولا يفوت الجاحظ، خلال ذلك، أن يذكر صنوفاً من الأحاديث، وألواناً من الطرائف، يستمدها من التاريخ العربي حيناً، ومن تاريخ الفارس أحياناً، متحدثاً عن أخلاق الملوك والشعوب، على اختلاف ديارها، محاولاً بعد كل حديث أن يضع الخطوط العامة، بصورة غير مباشرة، للأدب الاجتماعي الرفيع.
Translation
The Crown in the Ethics of Kings is a book on literature and rhetoric by Al-Jahiz that talks about entering upon kings, feeding them, and admonishing them, and about the qualities of remorse and the good manners that kings should have among the subjects, in both situations of humor and seriousness. During this, Al-Jahiz does not fail to mention types of hadiths and colors of anecdotes, which he derives from Arab history at times, and from Persian history at times, speaking about the morals of kings and peoples, regardless of their lands. After each talk, he tries to lay out the general outlines, indirectly, of high social literature.
