About this work
Translation
The book “Al-Taraz for the Secrets of Rhetoric and the Sciences of Miraculous Facts” is one of the rhetorical works that dealt with the sciences of literature and rhetoric in a literary analytical manner, trying to depart from the dry logical method followed by Al-Sakaki and his followers. The author, Yahya bin Hamzah Al-Alawi Al-Yamani, deals with the sciences of rhetoric, relying on the Holy Qur’an and its evidence, and reviews the arts of Al-Badi’ and rhetoric while presenting various literary analyses, trying to imitate Ibn Al-Atheer’s method in the literary approach to rhetoric. Despite Al-Alawi's serious attempts to depart from the Sakaki tradition, he was unable to completely break free from the divisions and branches of the Sakaki school in the structure of his book.
