Lessons is a book written by the Egyptian author and writer Mustafa Lutfi Al-Manfaluti, published in 1915 AD. The book’s stories revolve around many topics that were preoccupying society at that time, and it combines two forms of short stories: The first form consists of four short stories that Al-Manfaluti wrote in response to his desire to work in narratives, and they are, respectively: The Orphan, The Veil, The Abyss, and The Punishment. It is noteworthy that the last story is in an intermediate position between setting and wording, meaning that he adapted it from an American story entitled “The Screaming of the Graves.” As for the second form of the stories in this book, it consists of four, which are, respectively: Martyrs, Memory, Retribution, Victim, and in a recent edition of the book, revenge was included. …
