هذا الكتاب يتناول دراسة المقال وتطوره عبر العصور، مبيناً ملامحه في الأدب العربي القديم وأطواره في الأدب الحديث. يركز المؤلف على تنوع أشكال المقال وأثره في إنعاش الفكر، مع استعراض جهود كتابه البارزين في مختلف المجالات. كما يتناول الكتاب دور المقال في معالجة القضايا الفكرية التي شغلت الرأي العام العربي، خاصة في مصر قبل وبعد ثورة 1919، مع إبراز الألوان الجديدة التي نشأت في ظله كالخاطرة والفكرة والكاريكاتير.

Translation

This book deals with the study of the essay and its development throughout the ages, showing its features in ancient Arabic literature and its stages in modern literature. The author focuses on the diversity of essay forms and their impact on reviving thought, while reviewing the efforts of prominent writers in various fields. The book also addresses the role of the article in addressing the intellectual issues that preoccupied Arab public opinion, especially in Egypt before and after the 1919 revolution, while highlighting the new colors that emerged under it, such as thought, idea, and caricature.
