The Flower of Manners and the Fruit of Minds is a literary book compiled by Abu Ishaq Ibrahim bin Ali al-Husri al-Qayrawani (d. 413 AH, 1061 AD), a writer from Kairouan, an eloquent author and publisher. He is a contemporary of the famous poet Abu al-Hasan al-Husri al-Qayrawani, and they are related. According to Al-Husri, Abu Al-Hassan is the author of the famous poem “Yaleel Al-Sab”. Zahr al-Adab is a purely literary book in which the author did not deal with anything of grammar, morphology, or language. Rather, he restricted it to the arts of speech, such as poetry and prose, and the forms of eloquence related to that, the beauty of wording, the correctness of the simile, the good construction, and the quality of rhetoric. The book is based on collection and narration, and its author did not bother to scrutinize, discuss, and comment on the news and poems. …
