Translation
The book “On Modern Literature” by Muhammad Omar Al-Desouki deals with the history of Arabic literature in the modern era, focusing on the developments that occurred in Egypt and the Arab countries during the nineteenth century and beyond. The book examines how contacts with the West and the educational renaissance influenced the formation of Arab literature and art, and how Eastern and Western cultures blended to form a new literary language and style. The book covers different periods of the modern era, starting from the era of Muhammad Ali until the era of Ismail, through the renaissance of poetry and prose, and the influence of translations and educational missions on Arabic literature.
