كَلِيلَة ودِمْنَة كتاب يتضمّن مجموعة من القصص، ترجمَهُ عبد الله بن المقفع من الفهلوية إلى اللغة العربية في العصر العباسي وتحديدًا في القرن الثاني الهجري الموافق للقرن الثامن الميلادي وصاغه بأسلوبه الأدبي مُتصرفًا به عن الكتاب الأصلي. أجمع العديد من الباحثين على أن الكتاب يعود لأصول هندية: كُتِبَ الفصول الخمسة (بالسنسكريتية: पञ्चतन्त्र؛ پنچاتنترا) باللغة السنسكريتية في القرن الرابع الميلادي، ومن ثم تُرجم إلى اللغة الفهلوية في أوائل القرن السادس الميلادي بأمر من كسرى الأول. …

Kalila and Dimna is a book that includes a collection of stories. It was translated by Abdullah bin Al-Muqaffa from Fahlawi into Arabic in the Abbasid era, specifically in the second century AH, corresponding to the eighth century AD, and he formulated it in his own literary style, adapting it from the original book. Many researchers agree that the book has Indian origins: the Five Chapters (Sanskrit: पञ्चतन्त्र; Panchatantra) were written in Sanskrit in the fourth century AD, and then translated into the Pahlavi language in the early sixth century AD by order of Khosrow I. …
