Translation
The book deals with the emergence of modern prose and its development in Arabic literature, showing how it got rid of the harms of the past and rose from sluggishness and frivolity to strength, health, and artistic beauty. The author focuses on other prose arts, such as the letter, the book, and the article, and traces their development over a century and a half, reviewing the contributions of prominent figures in Egypt, Iraq, and the Levant, and the influence of the press on the development of style.
