Translation

This book by Ibn Taymiyyah is a response to some of what was mentioned in the parties of the Shadhiliyya order and what was classified in the etiquette of the road, where the author criticizes what he sees as evils and legal violations in those parties, focusing on the issues of trust, supplication, and infallibility. The book begins by discussing the phrase โ€œAnd your knowledge is sufficient for meโ€ and explaining what he sees as its contradiction to the Sunnah, then he analyzes and criticizes other concepts such as infallibility from sins and doubts, and the beliefs of some of those affiliated with the Shadhiliyya in Al-Qutb and Al-Ghawth, explaining what he sees as misguidance in understanding worship, intercession, and supplication.

Topics covered

  • Response to Al-Shazly regarding his two parties and his classification of road etiquette
  • Chapter: The second aspect: The evils in this party
  • The first place: His saying: (And your knowledge is sufficient for me)
  • The Sunnah is to say: God is sufficient for me, and God is sufficient for me, and the evidence for that
  • Mere knowledge is not enough for servants
  • The origin of this word is an Israeli trace, and the word is based on it
  • Kamal Al-Tawakkul
  • What was transmitted from the previous prophets and the criterion for accepting it
  • Knowing the Lord is not a substitute for prayer
  • The status of supplication and that it is one of the greatest reasons for achieving what is desired
  • The second place: His saying: (We ask you for infallibility in movements..)
  • This supplication is an assault and it is not permissible to pray with it
  • Their belief in it is hideous and it is worse than what the Christians say
  • Infallibility from sins does not happen to anyone other than the prophets by agreement
  • Whatever does not contradict the message, the prophets were not immune from it
  • The meaning of his saying: (suspicions, doubts, and illusions that conceal the hearts)
  • It can have two meanings. The first: infallibility from all doubt and suspicion
  • Respond to this possibility and invalidate it
  • If we assume the possibility of this possibility, it is not something that brings us closer to God
  • Their flaw in the concept of worship led them to this issue
  • Their misguidance in the concept of worship, intercession, and supplication
  • The reason for their arrogance is the false revelations that are said about them
  • Some of their exaggerations and lies
  • Karamat saints and when to use them
  • This is answered in two places
