هذا كتاب في علم اللغة ومناهج البحث اللغوي، يبدأ بتعريف اللغة وأهميتها، ثم يتناول بالدراسة موضوعات الصوت الإنساني ووصف الأصوات، ونشأة اللغة الإنسانية وفق مذاهب متعددة، وعلاقة علم اللغة بالمجتمع والنفس والجغرافيا اللغوية. ويستعرض الكتاب ثلاثة مناهج رئيسية للبحث اللغوي هي المنهج الوصفي والتاريخي والمقارن، مع عناية خاصة بتطبيقات المنهج المقارن.
Translation
This is a book on linguistics and linguistic research methods. It begins with defining language and its importance, then studies the topics of the human voice and description of sounds, the emergence of human language according to multiple schools of thought, and the relationship of linguistics to society, the psyche, and linguistic geography. The book reviews three main approaches to linguistic research: the descriptive, historical, and comparative approaches, with special attention to applications of the comparative approach.
