المزهر في علوم اللغة وأنواعها كتاب للعلامة عبد الرحمن جلال الدين السيوطي، قال: في مقدمة الكتاب، هذا علم شريف ابتكرت ترتيبه، واخترعت تنويعه و تبويبه؛ و ذلك في علوم اللغة وأنواعها، و شروط أدائها و سماعها، حاكيت به علوم الحديث في التقاسيم و الأنواع، وأتيت فيه بعجائبَ وغرائبَ حسنةِ الإبداع. و قد كان كثير ممّن تقدم يُلّم بأشياء من ذلك، و يعتني في بيانها بتمهيد المسالك، غير أن هذا المجموع لم يسبقني إليه سابق، و لا طرق سبيله قبلي طارق. و قد قسمه إلى خمسين نوعا.
Translation
Al-Mizhar in the Sciences of Language and its Types, a book by the scholar Abd al-Rahman Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti, said: In the introduction to the book, this is an honorable science. I invented its arrangement, and its diversification and classification. This is in the sciences of language and its types, and the conditions for its performance and listening. I have imitated the sciences of hadith in its divisions and types, and brought in it wonderful wonders and curiosities of great creativity. Many of those who came forward were knowledgeable about things like this, and took care to explain them in paving the way, but no one preceded me to this collection, nor did Tariq follow its path before me. He divided it into fifty types.
