هذا كتاب في فقه اللغة، يبحث في نشأة هذا العلم وتطوره عند العرب، وعلاقته بعلم اللغة الحديث. يتناول الكتاب خصائص العربية الفصحى، وموقعها بين أخواتها السامية، مع دراسة لأهم لهجاتها القديمة والحديثة. كما يعرض المؤلف في طبعته الثالثة لموضوع الصيغ والأوزان، ومكانة العربية في العصر الحديث، ناقدًا ما يثار حولها من شبهات.
Translation
This is a book on philology, examining the origins and development of this science among the Arabs, and its relationship to modern linguistics. The book deals with the characteristics of classical Arabic and its position among its Semitic sisters, with a study of its most important ancient and modern dialects. In its third edition, the author also presents the topic of formulas and meters, and the status of Arabic in the modern era, criticizing the suspicions raised around it.
