Translation
Al-Dibaj by Abu Ubaidah Muammar bin Al-Muthanna is a historical work that provides an evaluation of Arab poets in pre-Islamic times and Islam, based on the opinions of their contemporaries and literary comparisons. The book includes multiple chapters dealing with the classification of poets, and sections on Arab tribes and their social and political manifestations in different periods. The text is highlighted by discussing the details of pre-Islamic poets, such as Imru’ al-Qais, al-Nabigha, and Zuhair, and projecting them onto Islamic poets to determine their preferences and comparisons.
