المعارف لابن قتيبة الدينوري هو مؤلف تاريخي يجمع بين سيرة الكاتب وتفاصيل عن نسبه ومؤلفاته، مع عرض شامل للعلماء والأدباء والفقهاء الذين نشطوا في عصر الخلفاء العباسيين. يتناول الكتاب كذلك مظاهر الحياة العلمية والأدبية في بغداد، ويستعرض مناهج التأليف الجامع التي سادت في ذلك الزمان، مع إشارة إلى الظروف السياسية والاجتماعية التي أحاطت بالحقبة. كما يحتوي على أقسام مخصصة لدراسات القرآن من حيث الغريب والمشكلة والمعاني والقراءات وإعرابها.
Translation
Al-Ma’arif by Ibn Qutaybah Al-Dinuri is a historical work that combines the writer’s biography and details about his lineage and writings, with a comprehensive presentation of the scholars, writers, and jurists who were active in the era of the Abbasid caliphs. The book also deals with aspects of scientific and literary life in Baghdad, and reviews the approaches to comprehensive writing that prevailed at that time, with reference to the political and social circumstances that surrounded the era. It also contains sections dedicated to studies of the Qur’an in terms of the strange, the problematic, meanings, readings, and their parsing.
