The History of Islam and the Deaths of Celebrities and Notables by Imam al-Dhahabi is one of the most prominent encyclopedic works in Islamic heritage, and it is considered one of the most important historical sources that combined general history and individual biographies. This book differs from his other encyclopedia, Biographies of Noble Figures, in that it focuses on monitoring Islamic history from the Prophet’s migration until the year 700 AH/1300 AD, relying on a chronological classification consisting of seventy classes, which is equivalent to seven hundred years in the Hijri calendar.
