About this work
مقاتل الطالبيين، أو مقاتل آل أبي طالب، هو كتاب ألفه علي بن الحسين بن محمد، المعروف بـأبو الفرج الأصفهاني (المتوفى سنة 356 هـ). يُعد هذا الكتاب من أهم المصادر التاريخية التي تناولت سِيَر ومصارع آل أبي طالب، وقد أورد فيه المؤلف أخبار ما يقارب 500 شهيد من أبناء جعفر بن أبي طالب، وعلي بن أبي طالب، وعقيل بن أبي طالب، ممن قضوا نحبهم في سبيل الدفاع عن المظلومين أو في الثورات ضد الدولة الأموية والدولة العباسية، لاسيما ثورة الحسين بن علي ضد يزيد بن معاوية.
Translation
Muqatil al-Talibi, or Muqatil al-Abi Talib, is a book written by Ali bin al-Hussein bin Muhammad, known as Abu al-Faraj al-Isfahani (who died in the year 356 AH). This book is considered one of the most important historical sources that dealt with the biographies and struggles of the Abi Talib family. In it, the author reported news of approximately 500 martyrs from the sons of Jaafar bin Abi Talib, Ali bin Abi Talib, and Aqeel bin Abi Talib, who died in defense of the oppressed or in the revolutions against the Umayyad state and the Abbasid state, especially the revolution of Hussein bin Ali against Yazid bin Muawiyah.
