The book “Theologians fi Rijal” by Al-Hafiz Shams al-Din al-Sakhawi is a part of the science of hadith that deals with mentioning the critics of hadith narrators across the ages, starting with the Companions and the Followers and then onwards. The author lists the names of the imams who are famous for speaking about wounds and amendments on this matter, relying in its original on a part by Al-Dhahabi. Al-Sakhawi included this chapter in his two books “The Announcement of Rebuke” and “Fath al-Mughith.” The book aims to introduce those whose words are relied upon to criticize men, without a comprehensive investigation, but rather by mentioning those who have come to mind from the early and late scholars.
