كتاب المحكم في نقط المصاحف، هو كتاب لعثمان بن سعيد أبي عمرو الداني (ت:444هـ)، وهو كتاب في نقط الحروف وطريقة وضع العلامات عليها، ويعد من أكبر الكتب وأوسعها في هذا الباب. وقد ذكر المؤلف موضوع الكتاب فقال: «هذا كتاب علم نقط المصاحف وكيفيته على صيغ التلاوة ومذاهب القراءة فيما اتفقوا عليه وما اختلفوا فيه وعلى ما سنه الماضون واستعمله الناقطون وما يوجبه قياس العربية وتحققه طريق اللغة، مشروحا ذلك بأصوله وفروعه مبينا بعلله ووجوهه، مع ذكر السنن الواردة عن السلف الماضين والأئمة المتقدمين في النقط ومن ابتدأ به أولا ومن كرهه منهم ومن ترخص فيه، إلى غير ذلك مما ينضاف إليه ويتصل به من ذكر رسم فواتح السور ورؤو …

Translation

The Book of Al-Muhkam fi Al-Muhakam fi Al-Qur’an, is a book by Othman bin Saeed Abi Amr Al-Dani (d. 444 AH). It is a book on the dots of letters and the method of placing marks on them, and it is considered one of the largest and most extensive books in this section. The author mentioned the subject of the book and said: “This is a book that teaches the Qur’an notations and how they are based on the forms of recitation and the doctrines of reading in what they agreed upon and what they differed on, and on what was practiced by the past and used by the Nuqatists, and what is required by Arabic analogy and verified by the method of language, explaining that with its origins and branches, showing its reasons and aspects, with mentioning of the Sunnahs mentioned by the past predecessors and the earlier Imams in the points, and who started with it first, and who among them disliked it, and who gave it concessions, etc. This is what is added to it and is connected to it from the mention of drawing the openings of the surahs and the visions...
