أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ خَالِدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا مُعْتَمِرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ عَنْ عَوْفِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ خُذُوا الْعِلْمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ قَالُوا وَكَيْفَ يَذْهَبُ الْعِلْمُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ وَفِينَا كِتَابُ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَغَضِبَ لَا يُغْضِبُهُ اللَّهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ ثَكِلَتْكُمْ أُمَّهَاتُكُمْ أَوَلَمْ تَكُنِ التَّوْرَاةُ وَالْإِنْجِيلُ فِي بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ فَلَمْ يُغْنِيَا عَنْهُمْ شَيْئًا إِنَّ ذَهَابَ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ حَمَلَتُهُ إِنَّ ذَهَابَ الْعِلْمِ أَنْ يَذْهَبَ حَمَلَتُهُ

Musa bin Khalid informed us, Mu’tamar bin Sulaiman informed us, on the authority of Al-Hajjaj, on the authority of Awf bin Malik, on the authority of Al-Qasim Abi Abdul Rahman, Mawla Abdul Rahman bin Yazid, on the authority of Abu Umamah, on the authority of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, that he said, “Take knowledge before he goes.” They said, “And how.” Knowledge will disappear, O Prophet of God, and within us is the Book of God. He said, then he became angry, may God not make him angry. Then he said, “May your mothers be bereaved of you. Was there not the Torah?” And the Gospel is among the Children of Israel, and it is of no avail to them. The disappearance of knowledge means the disappearance of its bearers. حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا هِلَالٌ هُوَ ابْنُ خَبَّابٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ قُلْتُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مَا عَلَامَةُ هَلَاكِ النَّاسِ قَالَ إِذَا هَلَكَ عُلَمَاؤُهُمْ

Abu Al-Numan narrated to us, Thabit bin Yazid narrated to us, Hilal Ibn Khabbab narrated to us, he said, I asked Saeed bin Jubayr, I said, O Abu Abdullah What is the sign of people’s destruction? He said, “When their scholars perish.”

أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا مَسْعُودُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْجُعْفِيُّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رُبَيِّعَةَ عَنْ سَلْمَانَ قَالَ لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا بَقِيَ الْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى يَتَعَلَّمَ أَوْ يُعَلِّمَ الْآخِرَ فَإِنْ هَلَكَ الْأَوَّلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُعَلِّمَ أَوْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الْآخِرُ هَلَكَ النَّاسُ

Malik bin Ismail told us, Masoud bin Saad Al-Jufi’i told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Abdullah bin Rabi’ah, on the authority of Salman He said: People will continue to be well as long as the first remains until he learns or teaches the last. If the first perishes before he can teach or learn, the last will perish. People

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُدَيْنَةَ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ قُلْنَا لَا قَالَ ذَهَابُ الْعُلَمَاءِ

Muhammad bin Al-Salt told us, Abu Kudaynah told us, on the authority of Qaboos, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Ibn Abbas. He said, “Do you know what the disappearance of knowledge is?” We said, “No.” He said the scholars are gone

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ أَبِي الْأَسْوَدِ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ مَا لِي أَرَى عُلَمَاءَكُمْ يَذْهَبُونَ وَجُهَّالَكُمْ لَا يَتَعَلَّمُونَ فَتَعَلَّمُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ يُرْفَعَ الْعِلْمُ فَإِنَّ رَفْعَ الْعِلْمِ ذَهَابُ الْعُلَمَاءِ

Muhammad ibn al-Salt informed us on the authority of Mansour ibn Abi al-Aswad, on the authority of Husayn, on the authority of Salem ibn Abi al-Ja’d, on the authority of Abu al-Darda’. He said, “What do I see?” Your scholars are disappearing, and your ignorant people are not learning, so learn before knowledge is raised, for raising knowledge is the departure of scholars.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ أَبُو عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْثَرٌ عَنْ بُرْدٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ أَبِي الدَّرْدَاءِ قَالَ النَّاسُ عَالِمٌ وَمُتَعَلِّمٌ وَلَا خَيْرَ فِيمَا بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ

Ahmad bin Asad Abu Asim told us, Abtar told us, on the authority of Burd, on the authority of Sulaiman bin Musa, on the authority of Abu Darda, the people said: He is knowledgeable and learned, but there is no good. After that

أَخْبَرَنَا قَبِيصَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ اغْدُ عَالِمًا أَوْ مُتَعَلِّمًا أَوْ مُسْتَمِعًا وَلَا تَكُنِ الرَّابِعَ فَتَهْلِكَ

Qubaisa informed us, Sufyan informed us, on the authority of Ata’ ibn al-Sa’ib, on the authority of al-Hasan, on the authority of Abdullah ibn Masoud. He said, “Become a scholar, or a learner, or Listen, and do not be the fourth or you will perish.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ رُبَيِّعَةَ قَالَ قَالَ سَلْمَانُ لَا يَزَالُ النَّاسُ بِخَيْرٍ مَا بَقِيَ الْأَوَّلُ حَتَّى يَتَعَلَّمَ الْآخِرُ فَإِذَا هَلَكَ الْأَوَّلُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَعَلَّمَ الْآخِرُ هَلَكَ النَّاسُ

Amr bin Aoun told us, Khaled told us, on the authority of Ata’ bin Al-Sa’ib, on the authority of Abdullah bin Rabi’ah, he said, Salman said, “People are still It is fine as long as the first remains until the last learns. If the first perishes before the last learns, the people perish.

أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ الْأَحْنَفِ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ تَفَقَّهُوا قَبْلَ أَنْ تُسَوَّدُوا

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ حَدَّثَنَا صَدَقَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ الْمُهَاصِرَ بْنَ حَبِيبٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى إِنِّي لَسْتُ كُلَّ كَلَامِ الْحَكِيمِ أَتَقَبَّلُ وَلَكِنِّي أَتَقَبَّلُ هَمَّهُ وَهَوَاهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ هَمُّهُ وَهَوَاهُ فِي طَاعَتِي جَعَلْتُ صَمْتَهُ حَمْدًا لِي وَوَقَارًا وَإِنْ لَمْ يَتَكَلَّمْ

Muhammad ibn al-Mubarak informed us, Baqiyya informed us, Sadaqa ibn Abdullah told us, that al-Mahasir ibn Habib said, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said Peace and blessings of God be upon him. God Almighty said, “I do not accept all the words of the wise man, but I accept his concern and inclination. If his concern and inclination are in my obedience, I make His silence is praise and reverence for Me, even if he does not speak.

أَخْبَرَنَا مَخْلَدُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ لَيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ يَرْفَعُ الْحَدِيثَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى قَالَ أَبُثُّ الْعِلْمَ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ حَتَّى يَعْلَمَهُ الرَّجُلُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالْعَبْدُ وَالْحُرُّ وَالصَّغِيرُ وَالْكَبِيرُ فَإِذَا فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ بِهِمْ أَخَذْتُهُمْ بِحَقِّي عَلَيْهِمْ

Mukhlid bin Malik informed us, on the authority of Hajjaj bin Muhammad, on the authority of Laith bin Saad, on the authority of Muawiyah bin Salih, on the authority of Abu Al-Zahiriyah, who narrates the hadith: God Almighty said: I will spread knowledge at the end of time so that man and woman, slave and free, young and old, will know it. أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عِيسَى قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ لَا تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ لِثَلَاثٍ لِتُمَارُوا بِهِ السُّفَهَاءَ وَتُجَادِلُوا بِهِ الْعُلَمَاءَ وَلِتَصْرِفُوا بِهِ وُجُوهَ النَّاسِ إِلَيْكُمْ وَابْتَغُوا بِقَوْلِكُمْ مَا عِنْدَ اللَّهِ فَإِنَّهُ يَدُومُ وَيَبْقَى وَيَنْفَدُ مَا سِوَاهُ

Ali told us, Muhammad ibn Aoun told us, on the authority of Ibrahim ibn Isa, he said: Ibn Masoud said, “Do not learn knowledge to three people so that you may compete with it with the foolish.” And dispute with the scholars about it, and turn the people’s faces toward you, and seek by your words what is with God, for He endures and endures, and everything else will pass away.

وَبِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ كُونُوا يَنَابِيعَ الْعِلْمِ مَصَابِيحَ الْهُدَى أَحْلَاسَ الْبُيُوتِ سُرُجَ اللَّيْلِ جُدُدَ الْقُلُوبِ خُلْقَانَ الثِّيَابِ تُعْرَفُونَ فِي أَهْلِ السَّمَاءِ وَتَخْفَوْنَ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ_

And with this chain of transmission, he said, “Be the springs of knowledge, the lamps of guidance, the adornments of the houses, the lamps of the night, renew the hearts, the creations of the clothes, you will be recognized in The inhabitants of heaven, and you hide from the inhabitants of the earth_

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ حَزْمٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَطْلُبُ هَذَا الْعِلْمَ أَحَدٌ لَا يُرِيدُ بِهِ إِلَّا الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَرْفَ الْجَنَّةِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

Abu Asim told us, Muhammad bin Amara bin Hazm told us, Abdullah bin Abdul Rahman told me, he said, the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, said And peace be upon him, no one seeks this knowledge who only wants this world unless God has forbidden him the knowledge of Paradise on the Day of Resurrection.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مَزْيَدٍ عَنْ أَوْفَى بْنِ دَلْهَمٍ أَنَّهُ بَلَغَهُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ تَعَلَّمُوا الْعِلْمَ تُعْرَفُوا بِهِ وَاعْمَلُوا بِهِ تَكُونُوا مِنْ أَهْلِهِ فَإِنَّهُ سَيَأْتِي بَعْدَ هَذَا زَمَانٌ لَا يَعْرِفُ فِيهِ تِسْعَةُ عُشَرَائِهِمْ الْمَعْرُوفَ وَلَا يَنْجُو مِنْهُ إِلَّا كُلُّ نُوَمَةٍ فَأُولَئِكَ أَئِمَّةُ الْهُدَى وَمَصَابِيحُ الْعِلْمِ لَيْسُوا بِالْمَسَايِيحِ وَلَا الْمَذَايِيعِ الْبُذْرِ قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّد نُوَمَةٌ غَافِلٌ عَنْ الشَّرِّ الْمَذَايِيعُ الْبُذْرِ كَثِيرُ الْكَلَامِ

Othman bin Omar informed us, Omar bin Mazyd told us, on the authority of Awfa bin Dulham, that he was informed on the authority of Ali, who said, “Learn knowledge, become familiar with it, and work.” Through it you will be among its people, for after this there will come a time in which the nine of their companions will not know what is good and no one will escape from it except every one of them sleeps. Those are the imams of guidance and the beacons of knowledge. They are neither Christians nor those who spread the word. Abu Muhammad said: sleep, heedless of the evil. The seed is talkative

أَخْبَرَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ قَالَ قَالَ مُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ اعْمَلُوا مَا شِئْتُمْ بَعْدَ أَنْ تَعْلَمُوا فَلَنْ يَأْجُرَكُمْ اللَّهُ بِالْعِلْمِ حَتَّى تَعْمَلُوا

Marwan bin Muhammad told us, Saeed bin Abdul Aziz told us, on the authority of Yazid bin Jabir, he said: Muadh bin Jabal said, “Do whatever you want next.” If you know, God will not reward you with knowledge until you act.

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ بْنُ أَبَانَ عَنْ ابْنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ سَيْفٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَبْشَةَ السَّلُولِيُّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مِنْ أَشَرِّ النَّاسِ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ مَنْزِلَةً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ عَالِمًا لَا يَنْتَفِعُ بِعِلْمِهِ

Ismail bin Aban told us on the authority of Ibn al-Qasim bin Qais, Yunus bin Saif al-Humsi told me, he said: Abu Kabsha al-Saluli told me, he said I heard Abu al-Darda’ say that one of the worst people in the sight of God in status on the Day of Resurrection is a scholar who does not benefit from his knowledge.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو قُدَامَةَ عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ مَنْ يَزْدَدْ عِلْمًا يَزْدَدْ وَجَعًا وَقَالَ أَبُو الدَّرْدَاءِ مَا أَخَافُ عَلَى نَفْسِي أَنْ يُقَالَ لِي مَا عَلِمْتَ وَلَكِنْ أَخَافُ أَنْ يُقَالَ لِي مَاذَا عَمِلْتَ

Amr ibn Aoun informed us, Abu Qudamah informed us, on the authority of Malik ibn Dinar, he said: Abu Darda’ said, “Whoever increases knowledge increases his pain.” Abu Al-Darda’ said, “I do not fear for myself that it will be said to me what you know, but I fear that it will be said to me what you did.”

أَخْبَرَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ يَذْكُرُ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ تَدَارُسُ الْعِلْمِ سَاعَةً مِنْ اللَّيْلِ خَيْرٌ مِنْ إِحْيَائِهَا و قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ إِنِّي لَأُجَزِّئُ اللَّيْلَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَجْزَاءٍ فَثُلُثٌ أَنَامُ وَثُلُثٌ أَقُومُ وَثُلُثٌ أَتَذَكَّرُ أَحَادِيثَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Harun bin Muawiya told us on the authority of Hafs bin Ghayath, who said: I heard Ibn Jurayj mentioning that someone told him on the authority of Ibn Abbas, who said: Studying knowledge An hour of the night is better than waking it up. Abu Hurairah said, “I divide the night into three parts: I sleep a third, a third I stand up, and a third.” I remember the hadiths of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.

أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ عَنْ حَدِيثٍ فَحَدَّثَنِيهِ فَقُلْتُ إِنَّهُ يُرْفَعُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَا عَلَى مَنْ دُونَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْنَا فَإِنْ كَانَ فِيهِ زِيَادَةٌ أَوْ نُقْصَانٌ كَانَ عَلَى مَنْ دُونَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Abu Al-Numan told us, Thabit bin Yazid told us, Asim told us, he said, I asked Al-Sha’bi about a hadith, and they told me about it, and I said that it was transmitted to the Prophet. May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and he said, “No, to those other than the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, who is more beloved to us. If there is an increase or decrease in it, it is to those who are less.” The Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace
