Al-Hakam bin Al-Mubarak told us, Amr bin Yahya told us, he said: I heard my father speaking on the authority of his father. He said: We were sitting at Abdullah’s door. Ibn Masoud before the morning prayer, and when he left, we walked with him to the mosque. Then Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari came to us and said, “Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari came out to you.” After we said no to Abdul Rahman, he sat with us until he came out. When he came out, we all stood up to him, and Abu Musa said to him, O Abu Abdul Rahman, I saw There was something in the mosque just before that I disapproved of, and I saw, praise be to God, nothing but good. He said, “What is it?” He said, “If you live, you will see it.” He said, “I saw some people in the mosque.” They are sitting around waiting for prayer. In each circle there is a man with pebbles in their hands. He says, “Allahu Akbar” a hundred times, and they say “Allahu Akbar” a hundred times. He says, “Hallelujah,” a hundred times so they say “Allahuhu.” A hundred and he says: Sublime a hundred and they say Subhana a hundred. He said: So what did you say to them? He said: I did not say to them anything. Wait for your opinion and wait for your command. He said Did you not command them to count their bad deeds and guarantee that none of their good deeds would be lost? Then he went on and we went on with him until he came to an episode of that. The throat, and he stood over them and said, “What is this that I see you doing?” They said, “O Abu Abd al-Rahman, a pebble with which we recite the takbeer, the tahlil, and the glorification.” He said, “Count your bad deeds, for I guarantee that none of your good deeds will be wasted. Woe to you, O nation of Muhammad, how quickly these companions destroyed you.” Your Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, are present, and these are his clothes that have not worn out and his utensils have not been broken. By the One in whose hand is my soul, you are of a religion that is the same. Are you more guided than the religion of Muhammad or those who open the door to misguidance? They said, “By God, O Abu Abd al-Rahman, we only wanted good.” He said: “How many desire goodness?” It will not happen to him that the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, told us that there are people who recite the Qur’an but it does not go beyond their throats. By God, I do not know perhaps. Most of them were among you. Then he turned away from them and Amr bin Salamah said: We saw most of these people rebelling against us on the Day of Nahrawan with the Kharijites.

Ahmad bin Abdullah Abu Al-Walid Al-Harawi told us, Muadh bin Muadh told us, on the authority of Ibn Aoun, on the authority of Amr bin Saeed, on the authority of Abu Zar’ah. Ibn Amr Ibn Jarir, on the authority of Hayya bint Abi Hayya, who said: A man entered upon us at noon, and I said: O Abdullah, where did you come from? He said I and a friend of mine came to engage in our prostitution, and my friend went off prostituted, and I went in to take shade in the shade and drink some drink, so I went to Lubina. Sour, perhaps. She said, “So I went to a sour patch of water and gave him something to drink from, and he drank.” And I drank. She said, “And I touched him, so I said, ‘O Abdullah, who are you?’” He said, “I am Abu Bakr.” I said, “You are Abu Bakr, the companion of the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, whom I heard about.” He said, “Yes.” She said, “So I mentioned our raid.” We fought and invaded one another in the pre-Islamic era, and what God brought with it of familiarity and many carpets, and Ibn Aoun interlocked his fingers. Mu'adh described it to us, and Ahmad Shabak, so I said, O Abdullah, until when will you see this matter of the people? He said: The imams have not been upright. I said: What are the imams? He said, “Did you not see the Master being with the Eve and they following him and obeying him? How upright were those people?”

Hadith 213Sunan Ad-Darimi

Muhammad ibn al-Salt informed us, Ibrahim ibn Sa`d informed us, on the authority of his father, on the authority of a brother of Adi ibn Artat, on the authority of Abu al-Darda’, the Messenger of God said, May God’s prayers and peace be upon him. Indeed, what I fear most for you are the misleading Imams.
