It has been told to me from Malik from [Zaid bin Aslam] from [his father] that he said to [Umar bin Khattab], "On the hill there is a blind camel." Umar then said, "Hand it over to the family who can use it." I said again, "But that is a blind camel!" Umar said, "They have to guide the camel." I asked, "How does the camel eat?" Umar asked back, "Is the camel a jizyah camel or a zakat camel?" I answered, "It is a jizyah camel." Umar asked, "By Allah, do you want to eat it?" I said, "On his back there is a jizyah mark." Umar then ordered the camel to be slaughtered, while Umar had nine plates, no fruit or vegetables unless he included them on the plates. Then the plates were sent to the wives of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, and the last one to be sent was his daughter, Hafshah. So if there is a shortage, then it will be part of the Hafshah."
