Al-Habib Abdullah Al-Haddad

Author Ratib Al-Haddad, Hadramaut Sufism Ulama (d. 1132 H)
Abdullah bin Alwi Al-Haddad is a Sufi cleric from Hadramaut, Yemen, who, despite losing his sight as a child due to smallpox, grew to become one of the most influential Sufism figures in the Malay-Indonesian world. He compiled Ratib Al-Haddad, a collection of dhikr which is now regularly read in congregation in mosques and taklim assemblies in Indonesia, Malaysia and the surrounding area. His work, An-Nashaihud Diniyyah, has become one of the books on morals and Sufism most widely studied in religious Islamic boarding schools.
1Quthub Da'wah and Ershad
Al-Habib Abdullah bin Alwi Al-Haddad (1044–1132 H) was born in Tarim, Hadramaut, Yemen. Even though he lost his eyesight since childhood, Allah granted him extraordinary memorization, knowledge and inner wisdom, to the point where he became a preaching and Sufism priest in his time.

2Worldwide Ratib and Wirid
He composed Ratib Al-Haddad, a wirid of protection and dhikr which is read by millions of Muslims throughout the world to this day, and wrote books of advice such as An-Nashaih Ad-Diniyah and Risalatul Mu'awanah which soften the heart.

3Preaching, Morals, and Death
Al-Haddad teaches Sufism which is firmly based on the Shari'a, emphasizing sincerity, piety and love for Allah and His Messenger. He died in Tarim in 1132 AH; His teachings and wird are still alive in world science and dhikr assemblies.
