Waki' bin Al-Jarrah

Teacher Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal (d. 197 H)
Waki' bin Al-Jarrah was one of Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal's most influential hadith teachers, known for his extremely strong memorization power โ said to be able to narrate thousands of hadiths without ever writing them down. He was very careful in receiving and narrating hadith, making his line of narration one of the most trusted among subsequent generations of hadith experts.
1Professor Imam Syafi'i and Ahmad
Waki' bin Al-Jarrah (129โ197 AH) from Kufa, trusted hadith imam and teacher of many high priests including Imam Ash-Shafi'i and Imam Ahmad. His memorization is strong and his narration is a reference.

2The Science of Light that Requires Piety
It was to Waki' that Imam Syafi'i complained about his poor memorization, then Waki' advised him to abandon immorality, because "knowledge is light, and Allah's light is not given to those who commit immorality." He died in 197 H.
