The book “Condolences” by Abu Al-Hasan Al-Madaini is a collection of hadiths and narrations related to consolation for the afflicted and consolation for the dead. In writing it, the author relied on the narrations of a number of famous narrators, quoting directly or through them. The book begins with a narration that talks about the greatness of consolation in God after the death of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, indicating that true consolation lies in the reward and good deeds that the believer reaps in his life, and that disappointment comes from those who He is safe from punishment.
