The book “Tenderness and Weeping” by Ibn Qudamah Al-Maqdisi deals with the topic of piety and modesty in the life of a Muslim, reviewing the impact of the prophetic directives in shaping the believer’s behavior and controlling his whims. The book focuses on the commandments of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to Muadh bin Jabal about the necessity of adhering to the Qur’an and adhering to it, and how a Muslim can protect himself from destruction in his desires. It also points out the importance of prayer, fasting and charity in a Muslim’s life and how to face death and the afterlife.
