The book “Reciting Behind the Imam” by Imam Al-Bayhaqi deals with the issue of the obligation of reciting the Qur’an in prayer for the imam, the person being led in prayer, and the one praying alone in each rak’ah, while extending evidence from the Qur’an and Sunnah on the necessity of reciting Al-Fatihah and other verses of the Qur’an in prayer. The book reviews many narrations from the hadiths of the Companions, may God be pleased with them, to support the position of the obligation of reading behind the imam, thus demonstrating the legal importance of this aspect of worship.
