التوحيد هو كتاب لمحمد بن إسحاق بن خزيمة الشافعي النيسابوري (223 هـ - 311 هـ) في العقيدة الإسلامية على المنهج الأثري. أوضح مؤلفه سبب تصنيفه لهذا الكتاب، حيث ذكر أنه كان في بداية أمره منشغلاً بتأليف كتب الفقه، مكتفياً بما يجري من مناظرات مع المخالفين في مجالس العلم، غير أنه لما مُنع من الظهور والتعليم، وخشي أن يتأثر بعض طلاب العلم بما يسمعونه من أهل البدع كالقدرية والمعتزلة والمعطلة، عزم على تصنيف هذا الكتاب. وجمع فيه النصوص من القرآن الكريم والأحاديث الصحيحة، ليُبيّن من خلالها عقيدة أهل الأثر. …

Translation

Tawhid is a book by Muhammad bin Ishaq bin Khuzaymah Al-Shafi’i Al-Naysaburi (223 AH - 311 AH) on the Islamic faith according to the archaeological approach. Its author explained the reason for his classification of this book, as he mentioned that at the beginning of his career he was busy writing books on jurisprudence, content with the debates that took place with dissenters in the councils of knowledge. However, when he was prevented from appearing and teaching, and he feared that some students of knowledge would be influenced by what they heard from heretics such as the Qadariyya, the Mu’tazilites, and the Muta’ilah, he decided to classify this book. In it, he collected texts from the Holy Qur’an and authentic hadiths, in order to clarify the doctrine of the scholars of hadith. …
