This book is a legal study specializing in the rulings on mourning, which is abstaining from adornment, perfume, and the like for a woman whose husband has died. It begins by defining mourning linguistically and legally, then moves on to explaining its legal ruling and the evidence for its obligation. It reviews the conditions that must be met by a woman observing the waiting period, such as reason, puberty, and Islam, while discussing precise jurisprudential issues such as the requirement of death or the validity of the marriage. The book also divides mourning into its legitimate and prohibited categories in Islam, to serve as a brief reference on this important jurisprudential issue.
