هذا كتاب في علم الفرائض، وهو علم المواريث المستمد من القرآن الكريم، ألفه السهيلي لبيان الحكم والأسرار الكامنة في آيات الوصية والمواريث. يشرح المؤلف دلالات الألفاظ القرآنية في آيات الميراث، ويستنبط الأحكام المتعلقة بنصيب الورثة كالأولاد والأبوين والأزواج والإخوة، مع بيان معاني الكلالة والحجب. يهدف الكتاب إلى إظهار الحكمة الإلهية والعدل في توزيع التركات، مستندًا إلى ما ورد في الكتاب والسنة من أحكام.
