About this work

Translation

The book “Al-Lum’a fi the Characteristics of Friday” by Imam Al-Suyuti is a brief treatise that explores the characteristics and virtues that are specific to Friday and not any other day. The author begins by enumerating the particularities mentioned by Ibn al-Qayyim, then follows them up to collect them into one hundred particularities, reviewing their evidence from the Prophet’s hadiths and traces. The book falls within the research of jurisprudential and hadith issues, as it deals with rulings such as the dislike of singling out Friday for fasting, the virtue of washing and arriving early, reciting certain surahs in the morning, and other rulings and etiquette.
