يعد كتاب "المسالك والممالك" أو "العزيزية" لمؤلفه المهلبي من المصادر الجغرافية والتاريخية المهمة التي تناولت وصف أقاليم الدولة الفاطمية وطرقها ومسالكها. يتناول الكتاب مسالك التجارة والطرق الرئيسية في الإمبراطورية، مع وصف مفصل لبعض المدن والمناطق مثل جزيرة العرب وحضرموت واليمن ومصر. يمتاز الكتاب بوصفه لمواقع لم يسبق لرحالة آخرين زيارتها، كما أنه يعكس وجهة نظر شيعية في بعض تعليقاته التاريخية والسياسية.
Translation
The book “Paths and Kingdoms” or “Al-Aziziya” by its author Al-Muhallabi is one of the important geographical and historical sources that dealt with describing the regions of the Fatimid state, its roads and paths. The book deals with the main trade routes and roads in the empire, with a detailed description of some cities and regions such as the Arabian Peninsula, Hadhramaut, Yemen, and Egypt. The book is distinguished by its descriptions of sites that no other travelers have ever visited, and it also reflects a Shiite point of view in some of its historical and political comments.
