بذل المجهود في إفحام اليهود كتاب من تأليف السموأل بن يحيى المغربي (الحبر شموئيل بن يهوذا بن أبوان) وهو رجل دين يهودي من عائلة معروفة بالعلم والمكانة الدينية والتبحر بالعلوم الدنيوية كالطب والرياضيات، ذكره ابن أبي أصيبعة صاحب عيون الأنباء في طبقات الأطباء مع مشاهير أطباء عصره. من أهم الكتب التي كتبت في الرد على اليهود، وقد ذكر أن دافعه للتأليف هو الاعتبار بالخطوات التي مر بها ليترك اليهودية ويدخل في الإسلام، فكتب: أذكر سبب ما وفقنى الله له من الهداية وكيف انساقت بي الحال منذ نشأت إلى انتقالى عن مذهب اليهود ليكون عبرة وموعظة لمن يقع إليه. …

An Effort to Conquer the Jews is a book written by Al-Samawāl ibn Yahya Al-Maghribi (Rev. Shmuel ibn Judah ibn Abuwan), a Jewish cleric from a family known for knowledge, religious standing, and knowledge of worldly sciences such as medicine and mathematics. Ibn Abi Usaibah, the author of “Uyun Al-Anba,” mentioned him among the ranks of doctors with the famous doctors of his time. It is one of the most important books written in response to the Jews. He mentioned that his motivation for writing it was to consider the steps he went through to leave Judaism and enter Islam. He wrote: I mention the reason for what God has given me in terms of guidance and how my situation led me from the time I grew up to my transition from the Jewish doctrine so that it would be an example and a warning to those who encounter it. …
