تهذيب الآثار هو كتاب من كتب الحديث، ألفه ابن جرير الطبري (224 هـ-310 هـ)، يملك الكتاب طبعتين الأولى باسم: تهذيب الأثار، أما الثانية: تفصيل الثابت عن رسول الله من الأخبار، ويتلخص منهج ابن جرير الطبري في الكتاب بالتالي: ذكر الطبري في الكتاب ما صح لديه مما أسنده الصحابة عن الرسول، فبدأ بمسند العشرة، وأهل البيت، والموالي، وبعض مسند ابن عباس، ومات قبل إكماله. تكلم المصنف على الأحاديث جرحا وتعديلا، وتصحيحا وتضعيفا، مبينا لطرق الأحاديث وعللها. تكلم على فقه الأحاديث، واختلاف العلماء وحججهم. تكلم على المعاني والغريب، مفسرا ذلك بكلام العرب وأشعارها.

Translation

Tahdheeb al-Athar is a book of hadith, written by Ibn Jarir al-Tabari (224 AH - 310 AH). The book has two editions, the first under the name: Tahdheeb al-Athar, while the second: Detailing what is proven from the Messenger of God from the narrations. Ibn Jarir al-Tabari’s approach in the book is summarized as follows: al-Tabari mentioned in the book what was authentic to him from what the Companions attributed on the authority of the Messenger, so he began with the Musnad of the Ten, the People of the House, the Mawali, and some of the Musnad of Ibn Abbas, and he died before completing it. The author spoke about the hadiths, criticizing and modifying them, correcting them and weakening them, explaining the methods of the hadiths and their reasons. He spoke about the jurisprudence of hadiths, the differences of scholars and their arguments. He spoke about the meanings and the strange, explaining this with Arab words and poetry.
