كتاب "الضعفاء الكبير" للعقيلي هو مصنف في علم الجرح والتعديل، يندرج تحت تصنيف العلل والسؤالات. يهدف الكتاب إلى بيان أحوال الرواة الذين نُقل عنهم الحديث ممن لم يثبت صحبتهم، وذلك بذكر أسمائهم مرتبة على حروف المعجم، مع التعليق على أحاديثهم وبيان ما فيها من وهم أو نكارة أو جهالة. يبدأ المؤلف كتابه بتقديم أقوال أئمة الحديث في ضرورة تبيين أمر من يتهم في الحديث أو لا يحفظ، تأسيسًا على أن هذا العلم دين.
Translation
The book “The Great Weak” by Al-Uqaili is a work on the science of wounds and modifications, and falls under the classification of causes and questions. The book aims to explain the conditions of the narrators from whom the hadith was transmitted and whose companionship has not been proven, by mentioning their names in alphabetical order, while commenting on their hadiths and explaining what they contain of illusion, denial, or ignorance. The author begins his book by presenting the sayings of the imams of hadith regarding the necessity of clarifying the matter of those who are accused of memorizing the hadith or not memorizing it, based on the fact that this knowledge is a religion.
