The book “Abu Dawud’s Questions to Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal” is one of the books of reasons and questions, and it collects Abu Dawud al-Sijistani’s questions to Imam Ahmad Ibn Hanbal about hadith narrators and the reasons for hadiths. The book deals with the conditions of narrators in terms of documentation and refutation, organized into sections according to countries and classes, such as trustworthy people of Medina, Mecca, Yemen, the Levant, Iraq, and others, with a mention of the weak people of Medina in an appendix. It appears from the excerpts that the book is concerned with discussing the chains of transmission of the hadiths and explaining the differences in the narrations and the narrators’ revisions of their sayings.
