زاد المعاد في هدي خير العباد كتاب من تأليف ابن قيم الجوزية في خمسة مجلدات، يتناول الفقه وأصوله والسيرة والتاريخ وذكر فيه سيرة الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم في غزواته وحياته وبيّن هديه في معيشته وعباداته ومعاملته لأصحابه وأعدائه. وقد ألف هذا الكتب أثناء السفر، ولم تكن معه أية مصادر ينقل منها ما يحتاج إليه من أحاديث وأقوال وآراء تتعلق بمواضيع الكتاب، ومع ذلك فقد ضمن كتابه أحاديث نبوية من الصحاح والسنن والمعاجم والسير، وأثبت كل حديث في الموضوع الذي يخصه. مع العلم أن ابن القيم كان يحفظ مسند الإمام أحمد بن حنبل الذي يضم أكثر من ثلاثين ألف حديث. …

Translation

Zad al-Ma'ad fi Huda Khair al-Ibad is a book written by Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah in five volumes. It deals with jurisprudence, its principles, biography, and history. It mentions the biography of the Messenger, may God bless him and grant him peace, in his battles and life, and explains his guidance in his livelihood, worship, and treatment of his companions and enemies. He wrote these books while traveling, and he did not have any sources from which to transmit the hadiths, sayings, and opinions he needed related to the topics of the book. However, his book included prophetic hadiths from the Sahihs, Sunans, dictionaries, and biographies, and he confirmed each hadith on the topic that concerned it. Knowing that Ibn al-Qayyim memorized the Musnad of Imam Ahmad ibn Hanbal, which includes more than thirty thousand hadiths. …
