A brief rule regarding the obligation of obeying God, His Messenger, and those in charge

This is a brief message by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah that deals with the subject of the obligation of obeying God, His Messenger, and those in charge of affairs, and explains the approach of the Sunnis and the community in dealing with those in charge, which is based on following and adhering to influence, not innovation and opinion. The author begins his message with a number of narrations narrated on the authority of the righteous predecessors, such as Ibn Masoud, Omar bin Abdul Aziz, and Al-Awza’i, stressing the necessity of the Sunnah and confining ourselves to what the early predecessors were upon, and abandoning innovations and innovations.
