This book is a dictionary written by Al-Hafiz Ibn Asakir, in which he collected the names of his sheikhs from whom he heard the hadith in various regions, and those who authorized him to narrate it from the people of the regions and countries. The author arranged their names according to the order of the dictionary letters in their names and the names of their fathers and grandfathers, beginning with the alif chapter. The book falls within the classification of hadith texts, and it represents an important source in the biographies of hadith narrators and its chains of transmission.
