Letters of Meanings and Attributes was one of the first books that dealt with the phenomenon of letters from its grammatical and linguistic aspects. It is a mini dictionary of about one hundred and fifty linguistic tools. Al-Zajjaji is distinguished by his special way of dealing with linguistic and grammatical phenomena. He frequently quotes ancient Arabic poetry and Qur’anic verses, and his style is characterized by encyclopedism and depth. The subject of the book is someone who asked him to write a book in which he explains all the meanings of the letters, and in how many ways the letter behaves.
