Translation
This is a book on grammar and morphology by Abu al-Fath Uthman ibn Jinni, devoted to studying the “reasons of duality” in the Arabic language. The author examines the nature of the Alif of the Deuteronomy and its Nun, and presents the various opinions of grammarians regarding it, such as the opinion of Sibawayh, Al-Akhfash, and Al-Farra’, then he prefers the opinion that he deems stronger based on evidence and objections. The book also deals with related topics such as the duality of the ambiguous and the conditions of the dual and plural nouns, which makes it a specialized study in the rulings of the dual and its morphological and grammatical reasons.
