كتاب البدر الطالع بمحاسن من بعد القرن السابع لمؤلفه محمد الشوكاني في تاريخ أعلام المسلمين من القرن الثامن الهجري إلى زمنه ـ وقد توفي سنة 1250 هـ ـ ذاكرا من يحسبه من المجتهدين، وأهل العلم، وألحق بهم العباد والخلفاء والملوك والأدباء إن كانوا على جلالة قدر ولم يشترط فيمن عاصرهم إذا أوردهم في كتابه كونهم بلغوا الذروة. وقد اهتم ببيان سنة الولادة والوفاة إن اطلع عليها ورتب كتابه على حروف المعجم، فبلغت تراجمه 596 ترجمة.

Translation

The book Al-Badr Rising with Virtues from After the Seventh Century by its author, Muhammad Al-Shawkani, in the history of Muslim notables from the eighth century AH to his time - and he died in the year 1250 AH - mentioning those who he considered to be among the diligent scholars and people of knowledge, and he included servants, caliphs, kings, and scholars among them if they were of great majesty, and he did not stipulate that those who were contemporary with them, if he mentioned them in his book, be that they had reached their peak. He paid attention to stating the year of birth and death if he read it, and arranged his book according to the letters of the dictionary, so his biographies amounted to 596 translations.
