التحفة اللطيفة في تاريخ المدينة الشريفة» لسيد شمس الدين السخاوي هو عمل تراجي وتطبقي يختص بسرد سيرة وأخبار أصحاب الفضائل في المدينة، ويُرتّب محتواه وفق ترتيب الحروف الأبجدية العربية على مدى مجلدين. يفتتح الكتاب بخطبة تمجّد الأخلاق والفضائل وتُبرز أهمية متابعة أثر الصالحين، ثم يتبع ذلك مجموعة من الفصول المخصصة لكل حرف من حروف اللغة، تُعنى بتوثيق معلوماتهم وتواريخهم ضمن سياق تاريخ المدينة الشريفة.

Translation

The Gentle Masterpiece in the History of the Noble City” by Sayyid Shams al-Din al-Sakhawi is a tragic and practical work that specializes in narrating the biographies and news of virtuous people in the city, and its content is arranged according to the order of the Arabic alphabet over two volumes. The book opens with a sermon that glorifies morals and virtues and highlights the importance of following the footsteps of the righteous. This is then followed by a group of chapters devoted to each letter of the language, concerned with documenting their information and histories within the context of the history of the honorable city.
