Al-Muttafiq and Al-Muftaraq by Al-Khubayt Al-Baghdadi is a book in the field of biographies and classes that specializes in clarifying the names and lineages mentioned in the hadiths of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, while showing what matches and what differs. The author relies on multiple narratives and presents them in chapters arranged according to letters, relying on different chains of chain of transmission to show agreement and difference between individuals. It aims to clarify points of confusion that may arise from the similarity of names or the closeness of lineages between the Companions and Followers.
