Al-Mughni’s book on the weak, written by Imam Abu Abdullah Shams al-Din Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Uthman, known as al-Dhahabi, who died in the year 745 AH. It is a small, brief book that contains the weak, liars, and the lowly. Among them are the abandoned and perishing, and among them are the weak among the hadith scholars and transmitters. Then he mentions the many who are delusional among the truthful ones. Then he mentions the trustworthy ones who have some softness or obstinacy in them. Then it contains the unknown ones as well, and they are many. Al-Hafiz al-Dhahabi mentioned among them the following: His ignorance is Abu Hatim Al-Razi, and he said: This is unknown, and he mentioned some of them whose condition is unknown, and from whom only one man narrated, it was denied. This book was limited to mentioning those who are less than weak, and it did not mention trustworthy ones, and whoever it was said that his place is truthfulness or there is nothing wrong with him...
