طبقات الفقهاء الشافعية لتقي الدين ابن الصلاح (المتوفى سنة 643هـ) في علم التراجم، وضعه ابن الصلاح، ثم هذبه ورتبه واستدرك عليه الإمام يحيى بن شرف النووي (ت 676هـ)، ثم بيّض أصوله ونقحه الإمام يوسف بن عبد الرحمن المزي (ت 742هـ). كان ابن الصلاح قد جمع كتابه هذا على شكل مقطعات، وكان يتتبع التراجم الغريبة؛ لسهولة إلحاق التراجم المشهورة، يستخرجها من بطون الكتب والمجاميع التي حصلها خلال رحلته وعلى الأخص رحلته إلى خراسان، وكان في نيته كما يظهر أن يجمع فيه جمعاً وافياً، إلا أن المنية عاجلته. …

Translation

Classes of Shafi’i jurists by Taqi al-Din Ibn al-Salah (who died in the year 643 AH) in the science of translations. Ibn al-Salah compiled it, then refined and arranged it, and Imam Yahya bin Sharaf al-Nawawi (d. 676 AH) corrected it. Then he clarified its origins and revised it by Imam Yusuf bin Abdul Rahman al-Mazzi (d. 742 AH). Ibn al-Salah had compiled this book in the form of fragments, and he was following strange biographies. Because of the ease of adding famous biographies, he extracts them from the depths of the books and collections that he obtained during his journey, especially his trip to Khorasan, and it appears that he intended to compile a comprehensive collection therein, but his death was too soon. …
