فوات الوفيات. هو كتاب موسوعي في التراجم، ألّفه المؤرخ والأديب محمد بن شاكر الكتبي (686 هـ - 764 هـ)، ويُعَدّ من أهم كتب التراجم التي أُلّفت في العصر المملوكي، حيث يتناول سير مجموعة كبيرة من العلماء والأدباء والشخصيات البارزة الذين تُوفوا بعد كتاب وفيات الأعيان لـابن خلكان، أو لم يذكرهم فيه. يتميز الكتاب بالدقة في توثيق الأسماء، والاهتمام بالأنساب، والتنوع في المجالات التي اشتغل بها المترجمون.
Translation
Missed deaths. It is an encyclopedic book on biographies, written by the historian and writer Muhammad bin Shaker al-Kutbi (686 AH - 764 AH). It is considered one of the most important books of biographies written in the Mamluk era, as it deals with the biographies of a large group of scholars, writers, and prominent figures who died after Ibn Khallikan’s book Deaths of Notables, or were not mentioned in it. The book is distinguished by accuracy in documenting names, attention to genealogy, and diversity in the fields in which the translators worked.
